The Scientific Interest Group for Novel Education and Teaching (SIGNET) is a home for educators within the ASIP and an integral component of the ASIP Education Committee. SIGNET is a broad coalition engaging teachers across the spectrum from high school through university, graduate, and medical education with a focus on promoting the foundational role of Pathology. Through annual meeting events and regularly-scheduled virtual sessions, SIGNET will provide support for developing educational skills, experience, strategies, and innovation; topics will include curriculum development, syllabus generation, incorporation of the social determinants of health, teaching to the current generation of students, and adopting new pedagogies and tools.
Goals:
Opportunities to teach and get feed-back on teaching for Trainees interested in Education
Opportunities for Faculty to share best practices
Programming at ASIP Annual Meeting:
Contribute to a session and other events at the ASIP Annual Meeting (e.g., Scientific Sleuthing for High School Teachers and Students, or Workshop for Graduate Education)
Direct outreach to local high schools or colleges local to the meeting venue
In-person advising regarding applying to MD, MD/PhD, and PhD programs for undergraduate students
