Pathobiology for Investigators, Students, and Academicians

On behalf of the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP), we are delighted to invite you to the Pathobiology for Investigators, Students, and Academicians (PISA) 2026 Young Investigators Virtual Meeting, taking place October 27–29, 2026.

This annual event is designed to highlight and support the next generation of experimental pathobiology researchers. The PISA 2026 program will feature short oral presentations from undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees.

 We anticipate a dynamic program that includes:

• Short oral presentations (15 minutes each) selected from submitted abstracts across a range of topic areas—from cancer and immunopathology to stem cells and neuroscience.

• Daily keynote lectures from invited leaders in various fields of experimental pathobiology research that will anchor sessions composed of trainee short talks.

PISA 2026 is open to everyone with no registration fee required. The first author and presenter of submitted abstracts must be a trainee (undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellow). Trainees are allowed only one abstract submission and there is no abstract submission fee. Trainee members of ASIP will be given preference for participation in the meeting, but non-member trainees are also eligible to submit an abstract. Non-member trainees may also elect to join the ASIP at the time of abstract submission to guarantee that their abstract will be programed for an oral presentation.

We encourage all ASIP trainee members to submit abstracts, and to invite their non-member trainee colleagues to submit abstracts and participate as well. Abstracts that describe new experimental results or abstracts that build upon prior work or represent incremental progress are welcome. Hence, trainees that presented work earlier in the year (for instance at the Pathobiology 2026 meeting) should consider submitting an abstract that includes new experimental results and updates the overall progress of their project.
