ASIP Announces New Excellence in Mentoring Award

The ASIP is excited to announce the addition of the Excellence in Mentoring Award to our ASIP Meritorious Awards, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of our members in research, teaching, and leadership. This new award was established through a generous gift from longtime member and ASIP Past-President, Dr. Linda M. McManus, Professor Emerita in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In sharing the intention for establishing this award, Dr. McManus said, “Excellence in mentoring is grounded in empathy and a selfless desire to guide and support others. This heartfelt approach inspires a legacy of generosity and shared wisdom to benefit future generations.”

The ASIP Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes significant contributions by an individual member to mentoring in the field of pathobiology research, teaching, and administration. The Meritorious Awards Committee will consider the nominee’s contributions to mentoring within their own research laboratory, department, and institution, more broadly within the discipline of pathology (outside their institution), and with respect to engagement in mentoring and mentoring activities within the Society. The ASIP Excellence in Mentoring Award is presented each year at the ASIP Annual Meeting.
