Alexander Sougiannis, PhD: Meet this month's Member Spotlight, Alexander Sougiannis, PhD, a 4th-year medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Sougiannis is an active member of the ASIP, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Greek Scientists Society. He currently serves on the ASIP Education Committee, presented during the 2023 ASIP Young Investigator Seminar Series, and Co-chaired a session at the PISA: Young Investigators Virtual Meeting in 2021.

Vik Meadows, PhD: Meet this month's Member Spotlight, Vik Meadows, PhD, an IRACDA Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers University. Dr. Meadows serves on the ASIP Committee for Equal Representation and Opportunity, as co-leader of the Liver Pathobiology Scientific Interest Group, and co-hosts the Behind Our Science podcast supported by the ASIP and The Histochemical Society with Dr. Daisy Shu and Dr. Roberto Mota Alvidrez.

Pilar Alcaide, PhD: Meet this month’s Member Spotlight, Pilar Alcaide, PhD, Assistant Dean of Faculty Development, Kenneth and JoAnn G Wellner Professor, and Associate Professor of Immunology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Alcaide serves as a co-leader for Women in Pathology and began her term as Vice President of the ASIP this month (July 2023).

Bethany Hannafon, PhD: Meet this month’s Member Spotlight, Bethany Hannafon, PhD, Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hannafon has been an ASIP member since 2016 and is a co-leader of the Breast Cancer Scientific Interest Group.

Roberto Ivan Mota Alvidrez, MD: Meet this month's Member Spotlight, Roberto Ivan Mota Alvidrez, MD, Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Surgery. Dr. Mota Alvidrez has been an ASIP member since 2015 and co-hosts the "Behind Our Science" podcast, supported by the ASIP and The Histochemical Society.

Christi L. Kolarcik, PhD: Meet this month's Member Spotlight, Christi L. Kolarcik, PhD, Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (Pittsburgh, PA). Dr. Kolarcik has been an ASIP member since 2007 and serves as Co-chair of the ASIP Neuropathology Scientific Interest Group.

Francisco J. Carrillo-Salinas, PhD: Meet this month's Member Spotlight, Francisco J Carrillo-Salinas, Research Associate at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Carrillo-Salinas has been an ASIP member since 2017 and serves as Co-leader in the ASIP Women in Pathology Committee.

Daisy Shu, PhD: Meet this month’s Member Spotlight, Daisy Shu, PhD, Instructor at Harvard Medical School at Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye and Ear. Dr. Shu has been an ASIP member since 2019 and serves the Society on the Committee for Career Development.

Dennis Jones, PhD: Meet this month’s Member Spotlight, Dennis Jones, PhD, Assistant Professor at Boston University. Dr. Jones has been an ASIP member since 2018 and has served the Society in several ways including as the Inaugural Early Career Representative to the FASEB Board, as Co-leader of the ASIP Breast Cancer Scientific Interest Group, and on several committees.

Martha B. Furie, PhD: Meet this month’s Member Spotlight, Martha Furie, PhD, Professor of Pathology at Stony Brook University (Stony Brook, NY). Dr. Furie has been an ASIP member since 1992 and has served the Society in several ways including as Chair of the Education Committee (2006-09), ASIP President (2011-12), and currently as the Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Pathology—the first female to serve in the position since the Journal’s original inception in 1896. Additionally, Dr. Furie received the ASIP Robbins Distinguished Educator Award in 2017.
