American College of Veterinary Pathologists Trainee Travel Award

Purpose

This award is designed to encourage ACVP trainees to showcase advances they have made in veterinary and translational science at the ASIP Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology (EB). As indicated on the EB website, the meeting attracts scientists and researchers in the fields of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, nutrition, and pharmacology. One of the founding members of this consortium is ASIP, a group with scientific interests that are closely aligned with those of ACVP members. ACVP members can make great contributions and forge productive collaborations with others at this meeting.

  • The ACVP will award $1000 to a veterinary pathology trainee who has submitted an abstract to the ACVP meeting, to support the trainee's participation in the succeeding ASIP Annual Meeting at EB.
  • The cost of abstract submission to the EB will be covered by this award. The award will be distributed to the awardee after submission of receipts associated with EB meeting attendance.

Eligibility

The awardee will be selected on the basis of the quality of an abstract submitted to the ACVP/ASVCP meeting by the July deadline as well as other application information. Once chosen for the award, the awardee must update and submit their abstract for presentation at the ASIP Annual Meeting at EB by the November EB deadline.

  • The applicant should submit a copy of the abstract to the ACVP/ASVCP meeting.
  • The applicant should also submit a letter indicating the applicant's interest in research and in attending the EB meeting.
  • A letter of recommendation from an ACVP, ECVP, or JCVP Diplomate (enclosed in a sealed envelope) who is directly involved in the applicant's residency training must be included.

The ACVP/ASIP Meeting Travel Award is independent of other travel awards to the ACVP annual meeting. Therefore, awardees do not have to select between this award and other ACVP travel awards. The winner of this award will be recognized at the Awards and Recognitions Program at the ACVP/ASVCP annual meeting.
