The American Physician Scientists Association was founded in 2003 by trainees, for trainees. From its roots as a small group of students, APSA has grown into an organization of over one thousand members. APSA continues to be trainee-led, and is the premier organization for physician-scientist trainee advocacy. APSA's efforts today include partnerships with numerous specialty societies, advocates at the local and national level, and numerous unique benefits, including mentorship opportunities and special awards from partner societies, exclusively for APSA members.
To promote the entry of young physician-scientists into the mainstream of the basic/translational/clinical science community and to encourage the participation of young investigative pathologists in the ASIP Annual Meeting or the Pathobiology for Investigators, Students, & Academicians (PISA) Meeting. ASIP is offering a special ASIP-APSA Partnership Trainee Scholar Award for trainee members of the American Physician-Scientists Association (APSA) to attend the ASIP Annual Meeting or the Pathobiology for Investigators, Students, & Academicians (PISA) Meeting. The ASIP Program Committee will select the recipient based on the submitted scientific abstract to ASIP topic categories. The abstract will be selected for presentation in either poster sessions or in minisymposium. The following rules apply:
- Applicant must be a trainee member of APSA.
- Abstract must have been submitted to an ASIP Topic Category of the ASIP Annual Meeting or the Pathobiology for Investigators, Students, & Academicians (PISA) Meeting.
- Award application must have been submitted online at the time of abstract submission and be supported by a letter from the mentor/supervisor attesting to the role of the trainee in the work and trainee status.
