The ASIP Committee for Career Development, Women and Minorities is proud to bring you the November edition of the ASIP Trainee Newsletter. Our mission is to provide trainees with information about careers in pathology, funding opportunities, and upcoming ASIP events, as well as feature trainee achievements and celebrate their successes.
In our Hot off the Press section, Vishakha Bhave, newly appointed Assistant Professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, discusses her recent publication “Regulation of liver growth by glypican 3, CD81, hedgehog, and Hhex.” Finally, congratulations to Andrei Turtoi and Will Puszyk, whose recent accomplishments and publications are featured in our Trainee Milestones section.
It is time once again to start planning to attend the next ASIP Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology 2014, which will be held in San Diego on April 26-30. Make sure that you submit an abstract of your work before the November 8th deadline. There are also many merit and travel awards available for trainees; you must apply by November 15. Awardees will be recognized at the Business Meeting, with a reception to follow. Make sure you don’t miss out on what promises to be another productive and successful meeting!
As always, we welcome your submissions, contributions, and updates to our newsletter, which you can send to us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org. We love hearing from our fellow trainees, and sharing your good news with others. Finally, we are still taking suggestions for Name the Newsletter – send us your name ideas, and we might just choose yours!
See you in April,
Cindy and Kari
