The next Annual Meeting of the American Society for Investigative Pathology will be held in Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Convention Center from April 24-28, 2010, in conjunction with Experimental Biology 2010. The scientific meeting will include diverse and exciting programming constituted by symposia, workshops and special sessions.  Many of the sessions have been developed in conjunction with our guest societies including the American Society for Matrix Biology, the  American College of Veterinary Pathologists, the International Society for Analytical and Molecular Morphology, the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories, the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology, and the Italian Pathology Society.

The topics for symposia include Biomarkers in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease, Interplay of A utophagy and the Proteasome in Pathogenesis, Role of Junction Adhesion Molecules in Health and Disease, the Ubiquitin Proteasome Pathway in Disease, Acute Lung Injury, Leukocyte Transmigration, Parkinson’s disease, Molecular Pathways of Tumorigenesis, Genetics and Molecular Biomarkers of Disease and Nanotechnology, and Glycans and Other Factors in Atherosclerosis.

Dr. Zena Werb will be delivering the keynote lecture entitled “Of Mice and Women: New Insights into Mammary Development and Breast cancer”. There are award lectures on topics of cancer epigenetics and mechanobiology & diseases of mechanotransduction. This year’s presidential symposium is entitled “Photonics in Medicine: New Approaches to Cell and Tissue Imaging”. In a continuing tradition, ASIP annual meeting will host the ‘Blood Vessel Club’ and ‘Club Hepatomania’. In addition, special interest groups have organized workshops and symposia on bioinformatics, breast cancer, and hepatocellular cancer. In collaborations with our guest societies, ASIP will host sessions on Globalization of Health Threats, Biological Banking and Mitochondrial Medicine and Longevity.

In keeping with ASIP’s commitment to support junior investigators and trainee members, the ASIP program at EB2010 will also include special sessions such as the career development workshops and mentoring the mentor. There will also be special sessions to showcase trainee research. Finally, a large number of awards will be presented for outstanding trainee research.  As in the past, a vital component of the program will include abstract-driven minisymposia and poster sessions. We encourage submission of your abstracts to ASIP topic categories covering a broad range of research areas in experimental pathology.  The program committee is looking forward to receiving many abstracts that will contribute to the success of this exciting meeting in Anaheim.
