Minority Trainee Travel Awards to Attend the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Meeting

The FASEB Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program has awarded ASIP funding to promote the entry of under-represented minority scientists and minority-serving institutions into the mainstream of the basic science community and to encourage the participation of young investigative pathologists in the AMP Annual Meeting. Successful applicants will be reimbursed up to $1,850 in travel costs associated with conference attendance and participation. These funds are meant to defray lodging, air, ground transportation, and meeting registration. Please Note: Travel awards are processed as reimbursements after the meeting. Receipts will be required in order to receive reimbursement. The registration fee for the meeting will be reimbursed at the Trainee Early Registration Rate (deadline to register at this rate is September 10, 2013).

Trainees at minority institutions and historically black colleges and universities, in addition to underrepresented minority trainees at majority institutions are eligible to apply for the travel awards. You must also be an active ASIP trainee member in order to apply for these awards and you must submit an abstract to the AMP annual meeting that is accepted by the AMP Program Committee. Trainees who are not currently ASIP trainee members may submit a special membership application at the same time they apply for the Minority Trainee Travel Award.

The ASIP Minority Trainee Travel Awards are funded by a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, National Institutes of Health [FASEB MARC Program: T36-GM08059]

The purpose of this grant is to promote the entry of under-represented minority scientists into basic science/bench science research careers. Please read the instructions carefully since there are NIGMS-mandated definitions of “under-represented minority” and specific eligibility exclusions.
