The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) 2007 Annual Meeting will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2007 in Singapore. Scientific programming for sessions related to human specimen biobanking has been concentrated on Wednesday afternoon May 30 and all day Thursday May 31 to accommodate participants at the 5th Asia Pacific IAP Congress who are interested in human tissue banks.

ISBER invites the registrants of the 5th Asia Pacific IAP Congress to take advantage of this special one and a half day registration option of $160 (USDollars) to attend the ISBER Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 30, and Thursday, May 31.   Registration includes:

Program Options:
Tour of the Singapore Tissue Network and Biopolis
Issues in Developing and Maintaining a Tissue Repository
William GRIZZLE, Kathy SEXTON, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Tissue Collection and Banking Facility, USA
This workshop will focus on the questions one should ask when developing a Human Tissue Repository, and some of the challenges that will be faced in maintaining that repository. We will discuss the various Models of Tissue Repositories, the Issues that should be Considered, and what Services the repository might provide. Quality Control of specimens and Safety and Biohazard issues will be discussed, as will Processing Charges for services and Ethical and Legal issues. The second portion of the workshop will concentrate on the technical details of operating a Human Tissue Repository.
